After one of the most amazing finals events I have ever been a part of or seen, and the dust settled, Dario Doimo stood tall. Putting on the best show that I, or anyone else in the building has ever seen him put on. Dario was pulling off a plethera of moves that were both original and difficult. His routine brought the crowd to their feet on several occasions. It really was an amazing performance and a well deserved win. Dario, who was one of seven competitors representing Kahunaville, took home $5,000 for his efforts.
Taking the 2nd & 3rd place positions were Rodrigo Delpech and Vladymyr Buryanov respectively. Both of their shows were also worthy of championships. If Mr. Doimo wouldn't have pulled off the routine of his life, either of these gentlemen could have taken home the top spot. Only 4.5 points separated 1st & 3rd places. Vladymyr is also part of the Kahunaville Flair team that is now seemingly dominating the flair competition scene.
Only 7 points separated 1st & 4th places. Taking the 4th place position was the third of the seven K-Ville competitors. Originally from Uruguay, Danilo Oribe has stormed onto the competition stage in the last year. Making his debut on the FBA Pro Tour at the 2007 Legends of Bartending, Danilo has shown why he is considered one of the best on the planet. Known for his silky smooth style and flawless routines, Danilo seemed a bit off, for him, with 5 drops in his alotted 6 minutes. At last year's Legends he had only 1 drop in three ROUNDS, total!!! BUT, with that being said, he was still silky smooth and was pulling off moves that few people could even understand, let alone perform. He has proven he is here to stay. I am sure there will be several champion trophies in his trophy case before he hangs up his bottles.
Judging this event was almost as difficult as the moves that the competitors were throwing on the stage. What a great way to kick off the 2008 FBA Pro Tour. If it is any indication of what this year is going to bring to the flair bartending competition world, we are all in for an amazing year!
